Welcome to LegalWikiPro

the free cooperative legal encyclopedia that any lawyer can edit.

Federal State General

LegalWikiPro is a Wiki-type encyclopedia for Lawyers. There are several "wiki" sites out there that cover legal issues, but they seem to be primarily for consumers. LegalWikiPro is of, by and for lawyers. LegalWikiPro will provide the detailed, jurisdiction-specific content that lawyers need. Click the "Federal" link for Federal law, the "State" link for law pertaining to specific states, and the "General" link for articles that have multi-jurisdictional application.

Because we want to provide real content for real lawyers, we need lawyers to contribute content. If you are a lawyer (civil, criminal, contract, agency, judge, professor [or law student]) we need your help. Create a free account, login and start contributing.

Check out the Oklahoma section of the Wiki to get a taste of what can be done with LegalWikiPro.

It is not our goal for LegalWikiPro to be the be-all for your legal research. But it can provide you just the right mix of overview and detail that you need to get you started down the right path. Plus, it can be a great place to store your own research snippets and pattern paragraphs for briefs, while helping the rest of the legal community.

If you would like to begin adding material, and you're not sure how, check out the "Help" link to the left. Or, email   the material to us and we can help you. If you are wiki-smart, you can do it yourself (just look at how we name categories in the Oklahoma section and try to keep to the same format - or experiment with your own). Don't worry...this is a wiki and you can't really break it.

Join up and start contributing! You've probably got a bunch of memos, briefs or articles that you're proud of. Give us the killer paragraphs from those.  You can also use snippets from cases (see how we do that in our Oklahoma section).  Don't worry if you can not completely cover a topic. Cover a small part; it will become encyclopedic over time. Don't violate any copyrights, and expect your stuff "to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will." Have fun.

Site News...

LegalWikiPro needs State / Specialty Editors.

Lawyers are welcome to sign up at LegalWikiPro, contribute content and fade into the background. However, if you would like to spearhead the development of content in a certain State or specialty, drop us an email. We can provide you with administrative status, recognition and a "title." Wow.

LegalWikiPro gets noticed.

Several bloggers have reviewed LegalWikiPro. Go look at Bartlet Law Firm's post, "Legal wiki - the new collegial paradigm?" and Jim Calloway's Law Practice Tips Blog post, "Announcing LegalWikiPro."   Inter-Alia likes the content that is already here, and says, "The rest of the wiki is just waiting for you to get started -- so go on, start editing!"  Thanks go out to these reviewers. Also, Russ Wheeler at Direct Appeal provided us with some much needed linkage. Thanks all.

Oklahoma Appeals article moves along.

The article on Oklahoma Appeals grows by baby steps.

New "Work Product" stuff

Don't you just hate it when you get a discovery request for all of your pre-suit (or even post-suit) investigation? Or maybe you're on the other side and really want to see a copy of the statement that the defendant took from that witness just after the accident. Whichever side you're on, you are now in the Work Product Zone. Our Oklahoma Discovery article now has more outline and case law material on this topic. Read, edit, contribute your own stuff.

Check out the Products Liability - Oklahoma section.

We’ve got an extensive outline of Oklahoma Products Liability law on the wiki. Check out the “Cases organized by product type” section at the end of the article! Pretty cool.

However, it needs some additional work. It needs some editing of section headings. It also needs brought to date with some current case law.

Interested? Be a hero. Pitch in! Create a free account and get after it. Every little bit helps.

Appellate standard of review - Federal.

There's a collection (does one cite a "collection" make?) of "standard of review" paragraphs on the Federal Appellate page. It's just a starting point right now. Collect some more and add to it.
